Loco for Coron Island in the Philippines
I've lived here all my life yet I can't stop thinking about Coron Island in Palawan. I've only seen the place on the Internet but I have never been there. The place looks like paradise to me and I would certainly love to go on a week's vacation there in the future with my little boy. He's never been...

Re: Opening a business in Philippines
I think it would be a good idea to go browse Entrepreneur.com.ph for a good read on how to start a restaurant or any other kinds of business here in the Philippines. They usually have guides on where to start and a directory of suppliers. I'm from Batangas so I have no idea how much it would be to r...

Re: What do you prefer – urban or rural life?
I live in a place where nature and the comforts of modern civilization are merged into one. The town of Malvar, Batangas is nestled between Tanauan City and Lipa City, just 71.9km south of Manila. My town aims to be a retirement location where farmlands are abundant and newly developed residential a...

Re: philippine culture
A "Maria Clara" simply embodies a woman of virtue with beauty and grace to match it. Today's version of a Filipino woman is a hardworking, multi-tasking household goddess either having a career or simply as a housewife. She is not just a wife but a capable partner suitable for an equally c...

Re: Japanese Culture
I've also been reading some guides from time to time because it's a dream of mine to visit Japan someday. Here are some of what I've learned: -It's considered rudeness to offer standing elders one's seat on a train because Japanese elderly pride themselves in not being too dependent on other people ...

Re: Living and Working in Barcelona!
You should be looking up teaching opportunities in Barcelona if you still haven't. Finding a good lodging there will be tricky too because you'd need to find a local who can speak good English as well. Are you also fluent in Spanish? You won't have any problems if you are.

Re: Honesty When Writing About a Foreign Country
Thank you for that wonderful reply, maxen57. I appreciate your candor. :) It helped me to understand a little bit better. One thing that I noticed while I was living in the Philippines, (I was there for three weeks) was that where I was, there was no hot or cold water, just room temperature, or luk...

Re: Honesty When Writing About a Foreign Country
We Filipinos can be touchy about a lot of things and that's when we think that foreigners are criticizing us but I've learned a long time ago that foreigners won't have anything to say unless they've experienced it first hand. In your friend's case, she probably got embarrassed because she thought t...

Re: Phl crime rate up by 46%
I think the important thing to remember is that no matter where you go in this world, you must always be prepared for anything, and when traveling overseas, this usually means having the involvement of someone from the country you are visiting. Always have someone waiting for you when you arrive, w...

Re: long distance relationship
Long distance relationships are tricky. All relationships of any kind require a certain amount of physicality from a touch of a hand to a hug. Sometimes, just seeing each other face to face is enough but long distance relationships require more effort from both parties for it to work. I used to have...
