Re: Moscow and Italy
I have no idea about living in Moscow, but seeign as the value of rubel has fallen to lowest in years, I guess you could live there relatively comfortably, if you have good savings from a Western country. Depends on where are you from, of course.

Healthcare in the Netherlands
So I'm planning to move to Netherlands in not-so-distant future, and I need some information on the healthcare system in the country. Does anybody here can help? I have some friends in Holland, and my cousin lives there, but I'm quite confused by what they've told me so far. It turns out that, despi...

Re: How can I learn Russian?
You'll be best off if you enroll in a course or some language class, but if you want to start on low budget, you should check websites such as DuoLinguo. Also, check if your local library has some books about learning Russian. Of course, neither will be enough if you don't have conversations, so bef...

Re: Europe is decommissioning the 500-euro bill
I'm OK with this, since 500 euro wasn't very practical anyway, when you need to pay that large sum it's more convenient to use an ATM card or make a bank transfer. I've read once that Interpol police nicknamed the 500 Euro banknote as "bin Laden" due to how often it was used by criminals -...

Re: Safe South American
What about Chile? I've never been there, but it from what you can read, it has actually lower crime rates than the US (granted that's still more than most of Europe). Of course, there will be lots of pickpockets in places that attract tourists, but that's true everywhere in the world.

Re: home sick
Skype helps a little, because you can talk with your family longer than on phone and you have some video, not just voice. But ultimately it boils down to taking roots in your new place, and this is difficult sometimes. I hope you manage this in your new country, I know it's difficult sometimes - I u...

Re: Living and Working in Barcelona!
As far as I know, finding a person who speaks good English is not that tricky in Spain - especially in Barcelona, which has a strong tourism industry, and therefore, a lot of foreign visitors. Mind you, Catalonia and Spain in general are still recovering from the Eurozone economical crisis, so unemp...

Re: What countries to visit in Europe?
A trip to Greenland is a fascinating idea, but I doubt the island counts as Europe :P Can confirm that Iceland is great, though, some of my friends have visited and loved the place(s). You can go trekking in the apparently boring countries as well, like Germany or Switzerland. Especially Switzerland...

Re: What countries to visit in Europe?
@faerie: Yes, and I think Greece has - on average - still higher standards than most of the Balkans? You know, the quality of hotel rooms and similar stuff. A friend of mine was recently on a trip to Albania, and complained about the badly kept hotel she stayed in, or the general shabbiness of much ...

Re: What countries to visit in Europe?
We could write you a book on that topic (I'm sure there are such books already) and it would not cover it all. There's so much to choose, so you might follow alexuxley's advice and start with deciding your budget. If you want an affordable trip, you should probably go to Central/Eastern Europe. Ever...
