Re: A matter of respect.

That is very much true. When we are visiting another country it's like if we are guests in someone else's home, so we need to act according to their rules. It's a matter of respect, and it will lead us to have a more enjoyable experience.

Re: What countries to visit in Europe?

There are quite a few countries you should visit, but it all depends on your goals. If you want beach time, southern countries have amazing beaches: Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Croatia, and so on. As for cities, Lisbon and Amsterdam are among my favorites! ;)

Re: Japanese Culture

Visiting Japan and China is one of the most important things I want to do in life. From growing up looking at karate films, I've always had a desire to visit both countries. The language seems hard to understand, but I think I can learn both with determination and effort. I think it's definitely a ...

Re: On Saying "I Love You"

I think it depends a lot on the culture, but I feel that in English the expression "I love you" has lost a lot of it's strength because it's used way too often. In my country the correspondent expression is used just when we really love someone, and not like "I love fries" for ex...

Re: Japanese Culture

I was in Tokyo maybe 12-13 years ago, and I spent a month there, it allowed me to understand a bit about their culture. First, those guys work a lot, and I heard that they do work 14-16 hours per day, and say the expression "I'll retire when I am 50", well, it's a way to see it! Apart from...

Anyone needs help?

I am Portuguese, so if anyone needs helps or has doubts learning the language, please let me know and I will be glad to help. Portuguese it's a very complex language so I've heard, but nothing that can be learned with time and dedication, pretty much like any other language. :)

Maldives

A place I dream to visit for quite a while now are the Maldives islands. I wonder if anyone here has ever been there? From what I could see from pictures and videos is certainly a paradise location, but price is definitely the main issue, is very expensive!

Re: Eating Dog Meat?

Dog meat is a delicacy in the northern part of the Philippines particularly in Mountain Province where dog meat is part of their religious rites. Animal protection groups like PAWS cannot do anything. Banning such tradition will run counter to their culture. What the government can do is to outlaw ...

Re: long distance relationship

Seeing this topic always reminds me when I started dating my current wife, as just a few days later I had to spend one month away, when our passion was at our peak, so it was hard, but at the same time, as it was just a month, I feel that it made our feeling even stronger. Each case is a case, but w...

Re: What is unique about your city/counrty?

I live in Lisbon, Portugal, and what's unique about Lisbon is that we have a mix of ancient architecture, monuments, and modern buildings. Also, we are 20 minutes away from several beaches and mountains, so this ends up placing us in a great region. What makes more unique is how friendly people are ...
