I think the best part of where I'm currently living is the weather, there is no winter here, and the close proximity that is has towards stores for our daily needs and 24-hour convenience stores are the perks in my area.

Japan is a progressed country, but the locals speak little English, unfortunately. I think that you can get by there if you know the basic sentences that you should learn as a tourist.

When it comes to local festivals I only know of Ati-Atihan and Santacruzan. I haven't heard of Pasasalamat yet until I read your post. Seems like it's not that popular here in Manila.
