How hard would it be to transfer 2 cats to Germany?

I've been considering moving to Europe (specifically Germany), but I have 2 cats with me, a pure breed Persian and a Siamese cat, and I can't just leave them behind. Any of you guys have any experience traveling with pets and transferring them to another country? How hard was it? How long did it take? How much did it take you to process the papers? Thanks for the answers, everyone!

I haven't done it myself, but one of my relatives had moved to Germany several years ago with his dog, and apparently had no problems. Just remember that Germans really value Ordnung, so you have to strictly follow the procedures, and you should be OK. You will need documentation proving that your cats have been vaccinated for rabies, and you will also need to get them microchips (my pets never had any, so I can't advise you on this, unfortunately). I assume you're coming from the US? If no, check if the EU considers your country as controlling or having eliminated rabies - if not, you will have to do more paperwork and more importantly, your cats will need to get a blood test a month before entering Germany. Check the full rules here: http://www.bmel.de/EN/Animals/PetsAndZo ... elung.html (this an official site of the German government).
