One thing that I discovered about any country is that there are always people who one can make friends easily with and getting such people as your friends would be a good asset in your arsenal in getting you to know all the nooks and crannies in that country.

I have done this before and it did me huge favor in getting me know almost everything that there is to know about the country I visited. I grew up in the streets of my country, so I know a thing or two about street life and how to survive in it.

You could investigate before you visit so you understand how the public transportation system works at the place you are visiting. Make sure to check out your options because not everywhere will have a bus or subway system- also make sure you know how to pay your fare and when to pay it. By taking public transportation when you are abroad, you save money- and see your destination in new ways and try to enjoy the locals when you go as well.
