The Catholic Lenten season rites

Postby Alexandoy » Wed Mar 02, 2022 5:37 pm

The Lenten season of the Catholics starts with the Ash Wednesday (that is yesterday) where the priest marks the forehead of the faithful with ashes. Next to this are the prayers and processions that culminate in the Holy Week which is opened by Palm Sunday. The rites of Palm Sunday is colorful. Holy Week is a week full of rites like the reading of the Bible and the Biblical parade. Foreigners enjoy the Holy Week rites here.

I am not a Christian, therefore, I do not know much about Lenten. The only Christian festivals that I am aware of are Christmas and Easter. I believe Christmas is celebrated for Jesus Christ's birthday and Easter for his resurrection.
