You should start your travels in Puerto Rico, if you are not afraid of snake start by exploring the cave there, there are I thank boa that hang up side down that catch bats. Cuba boards are open to the public, you should go there to explore the beaches and culture there.
Ancient pyramids from past civilizations like the Olmec, Maya, Aztec and Inca here some locations Salvador, Honduras, Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, and more. Foods and more culture Jamaica, Costa Rica, Brazil, Peru, Argentina.
Some south American countries have a high crime rates and I haven't listed ever country there. Go there with a plan. Some south American countries natives speak English as a second language.

You should definitely visit Peru, I 've never been, but I've always wanted to see Machu Picchu. Also, Brazil is a great country. The beaches are gorgeous and there's a large part of the Amazon rain forest if you're feeling like having an adventure in the wild. Plus Carnaval always promises a good time! However, it can be difficult to get round without some basic Portuguese, but the people are friendly/
