When you're visiting the Philippines, you should be aware that Manila is just a city in Metro Manila, there's a lot of hotels, historical places and some malls there, the nightlife is about 3 / 10, the food also has that rating. To experience the Philippines you have to go to Quezon City, it's just beside Manila and it has the best mid class restaurants and bars in the whole of metro, this is where the action and all the fun is, go to Timog Avenue, Tomas Moratorium, West Avenue, Quezon Avenue, SM North Edsa, TriNoma North Edsa, Gateway Cubao, and a lot more places.

I'm from the Philippines also, and I'm familiar with those places. The foreigners mostly would like to try our local food, so for sure they would flock to those places.
